lot in the early 1970s, than a list of three modern vehicles. After
all, all are classic muscle cars, loaded with attitude and primed for
performance. Or are they?
Responding to the hunger for
"retro" vehicles, car manufacturers are offering today's car
buying public reincarnations of performance vehicles that were popular
with young drivers in the 60s and 70s. While these vehicles offer familiar
design cues and, in some cases high-performance engines, people who
appreciate the mystique of classic performance vehicles will forever
be drawn to genuine Detroit iron. Muscle cars, as they are called, are
American automobile models endowed with high displacement engines introduced
some time between 1960 and 1975.

Packer legend Gilbert Brown will be making an appearance at the 35th
annual Iola Old Car Show on Thursday and Friday July 12 and 13th.
Fascination with vintage cars crosses all social boundaries, ages, and economic levels. Car show and swap meet events, perhaps more than any other activity, exemplify how passionate people are about cars from the "good old days." With car auctions at these meets, buyers can bid hundreds of thousands of dollars for their objects of desire. In the classic car showrooms, exhibitors buff out every fingerprint on 50 year old chrome bumpers, while spectators peer under hoods to marvel at pristine engines. Swap meet attendees search for that crowning hood ornament that completes their restoration. Others are there just to witness this spectacle in awe.
